Terms and Conditions

By signing the booking form, the customer agrees to these Terms and Conditions of booking and hire, and the Rental Agreement.  The Rental Agreement is available to read on this website, or can be emailed to you.

You will also be required to sign our Rental Agreement before taking the camper.

Travel is allowed in the UK and Southern Ireland only.  

Collection and return is from Chase the Sun premises in Preston, Lancashire.  You will be able to leave your car at the collection point, free of charge, however we can accept no responsibility for its safe-keeping.

No smoking in the Campers please.

Booking and Payment

We prefer payment to be made using a credit / debit card, however Visa / Debit cards, Paypal, Cheques and Pounds Sterling are accepted.  Cheques must be cleared before Campers are hired out.  Please make cheques payable to ‘Chase the Sun Ltd’.

A booking is not confirmed until the booking form has been completed, the deposit received (and payment cleared) and a receipt sent to you by us.

A non refundable deposit of £150 per week of hire must be paid at the time of booking, the remainder to be paid no later than 21 days before the Camper Van is collected.

In addition to your payment for hire, a security bond of £500 must be paid before driving the Camper Van away, in order to cover us against any damage to the Camper Van whilst it is in your possession. This will be returned to you in full when the Camper Van is returned to us in the same good condition it was hired out.

Any damage or breakages to the interior or exterior of the Camper Van will be taken out of this bond. 

Any late returns will also be taken out of this bond costing £25 per part or full hour. If you are delayed in returning the Camper Van back to us, you must telephone to let us know, as you may not be insured for your additional time on the road.

If the Camper Van is not returned in a clean condition, a valeting fee will be taken from the bond.

A full tank of fuel will be in the Camper Van when you collect it, this must be replaced in full when the Camper Van is returned, or it will be taken out of the bond.

You, the customer, must irrevocably authorise Chase the Sun Ltd to deduct from the Security Bond any amounts owed by you, from this Agreement.

Cancellations

All cancellations must be in writing.  Please contact us over the telephone firstly and then confirm in an email or letter.

The £150 deposit made at the time of booking is non refundable and will be lost.

Booking deposits are only transferrable to another date within a 6 month period, however more that 21 days notice must be given, or your deposit will be lost.

If more than 21 days notice is given, refund of the hire and bond will be returned (less the £150 deposit).

If less than 21 days notice is given, full hire amount will be lost and only the bond refunded.

Please try to avoid any cancellations, it is advisable to take out travel insurance to cover you against any changes to your schedule.

Unfortunately, events beyond our control occasionally affect bookings.

Chase the Sun cannot accept responsibility or pay any compensation, costs or expenses where the performance of your contract with us is prevented or affected or you otherwise suffer any loss or damage as a result of events no matter how they are caused or by whom.

However, if your booking has to be cancelled as a result, Chase the Sun will of course offer you the choice of an alternative camper (if available) or refund as described above. Our liability is limited to a full refund of monies received by Chase the Sun. We will not have any other liability to you.

Camper Van Insurance

Drivers must be over 25 and have a full UK driving licence for at least 2 years.  For non UK licenses please ask us for advice.  
The Camper Vans are only to be driven by those insured to drive it.

The Camper Vans are fully comprehensive insured for the vehicles only.  Your personal and contents insurance are not covered and need to be arranged by you.

Drivers must be aged between 25 and 70.  If you fall outside this bracket, please contact us and we can speak to our insurance company on your behalf.

Two named drivers can be insured to drive the Camper Vans.

Please send through a copy of your full UK driving licence with your booking form when making the booking, so we can start to process the paperwork.  There must be no convictions on the license except for up to 6 speeding points, of which we must have details.

As well as your driving licence, please also bring a copy of your passport or a recent utility bill when collecting the Camper Van. 

You will not be able to take the Camper Van away unless we see these documents, so please make sure you have everything with you.

Hirer Drive Endorsement:

Persons who have less than 12 months recent regular driving experience of a motor vehicle in the UK

Persons who have any mental or physical defect or infirmity

Or suffers from fits, diabetes or any heart complaint

Persons who have had their /insurance declined and / or renewal refused and / or special insurance terms imposed as a result of claims experience and / or have had their insurance or cover cancelled by any motor insurer

Persons, who, whilst driving, have been involved in more than one accident during the past 3 years

Service Personnel other than persons born in the UK

Persons engaged wholly or partly in professional entertainment or professional sports persons

Jockeys and persons connected with racing of any sort

Undergraduates and / or students under 25 years of age

The Camper Vans are not to be used for any sub hiring or commercial use.

Accidents and Damage

Any damage to the interior or exterior of the Camper Van will come out of the security bond.

In the event of an accident you must inform us immediately.  

There is a standard insurance excess of £500 should you be involved in an accident. 

A full report of the accident must be submitted to Chase the Sun within 3 days.

Damage to windscreen or tyres must be paid for in full by the hirer.

Drivers are responsible for all parking tickets and / or speeding fines incurred when hiring the Camper Van.

All Camper Vans are maintained and looked after to the highest standards, and they all come with full 24hr AA cover in the unlikely event of a breakdown. You must inform us of any breakdown.

If the rescue service cannot get you up and running again, we will either refund your payment or do our best to offer you a replacement van.
If a replacement van is not available, a refund will be given to the hirer limited only to the monies paid.

Chase the Sun make every effort to ensure the Camper Vans are in a safe and roadworthy condition before each hire period.  We will accept no responsibility for additional costs, demands or expenses (legal or otherwise) should the vehicle break down.  

Release and Indemnity of Chase the Sun Ltd

Subject to our obligation to supply the customer with a Camper Van van, the customer must release Chase the Sun Ltd from any liability to the customer, regardless of who is at fault, for any loss or damage incurred by the customer by reason of this Agreement, including but not limited to:
Loss or damage caused by breakdown, mechanical defect, accident or the Camper Van being unsuitable for the customers purpose.

Loss or damage to any property left in the Camper Van or on Chase the Sun premises or recovered or handled by Chase the Sun Ltd.

Subject to any insurance arrangements agreed with Chase the Sun Ltd, I hereby indemnify and shall keep indemnified Chase the Sun Ltd, its employees and agents against any claims, demands or expenses (including legal costs) incurred or sustained by them or any of them by reason of my use and / or possession of the vehicle.

The Hirer agrees to:

• Receive Camper Van in clean and roadworthy condition with full tank of fuel and gas bottle.
• Pay for any damage to the interior or exterior of the vehicle during the hire period, out of the security bond.
• Pay for any damage caused to the living equipment, or cooking equipment in the Camper Van.
• Replace full tank of fuel prior to return.
• Not overload the vehicle.
• Pay £50 cleaning fee if the Camper Van is returned soiled.

We reserve the right to:

• Refuse hire to any person.
• Refuse hire should the driver have pending penalties or convictions on their license not previously disclosed to Chase the Sun.  Should this happen, all payment will be lost.
• Cancel hire if the driver’s license does not comply with our standard terms and conditions.  In the event of this, all monies paid by the hirer, less the £500 bond, will be lost.
• Claim repair and / or cleaning costs out of the bond.
• Retain full bond payment until any / all damage has been assessed and valued.
• Accept no responsibility for any 3rd party claims due to breakdown or accident.
• Offer another Camper Van of similar specification if your Camper Van of choice is not available.  If this is not acceptable, Chase the Sun will be limited to return only hire monies and bond.

We reserve the right to alter or change these Terms and Conditions without prior notice.
