Meet the fleet

Skippy, 1979 bay window camper. UK model. Duck egg blue and pastel white. RHD.

For 18 years, Skippy, our bay window camper van, lived with one owner who only took him out on sunny days. So it seems appropriate that these days he carries brides, grooms and their retinues to the sunniest days of all.

He’s also the one you’ll take around the North West when you hire a self-drive camper van from Chase the Sun and, despite his age, he’s a dream to drive and an all round superstar.

The duck egg blue and pastel white exterior and original interior ensure that, whether he’s taking you to your wedding, acting as your photo booth or touring the countryside, he’s an attention grabber who usually attracts a cheery wave or two wherever he goes.

Skippy has 2 x 3-point seat belts in the rear and a buddy seat with a lap belt. He can carry 4 passengers in total.

Dusty, 1973 bay window microbus deluxe camper. Californian import. Turquoise and pastel white. LHD.

Dusty is a cherished member of our camper van family. She spent 20 years in the Californian desert before we rescued her for a life of chauffeur driving brides and grooms film and TV work; she can be seen in Visit England adverts, Northern Soul films, film adaptations of David Walliams books and BBC news articles.

Inside and out, Dusty is a real head-turner. Her gleaming turquoise exterior is stunning, and on a sunny day she looks particularly cheery – especially when dressed in her wedding ribbon and bunting.

Inside, matching turquoise and cream upholstery and the original trim make this a super cool way to travel from wedding to reception. And she’ll stay with you for the rest of the day, as uber-cool photo-backdrop or deliciously daft photo booth. Well, she never has been able to resist a camera.

Dusty seats 2 on the rear bench seat with lap belts, and has a rear facing seat with a lap belt too.  She can carry 5 passengers in total.

Doris, 1967 VW split screen sundial camper van.  Californian Import. Pearl White, with a subtle hint of grey.

Doris is one of our most recent and cherished members of the fleet.  She has spent most of her long life in Los Angeles rubbing shoulders with the stars and being used as a surf bus for hanging out at the beach.  She was imported to the UK 10 years ago, where she sat quietly in a garage protected from all the elements.

After a full, sympathetic restoration, Doris is finished in Pearl White with subtle tones of pale grey.  Perfect for setting off a wedding dress and a beautiful accompaniment for any wedding colour palette. Her interior compliments her brand new exterior and is elegant and stylish in pale grey with cream piping. She is fitted with a full length sunroof and front opening safari windows - an absolute must have for your wedding photographs!

Doris can take 6 passengers and has her own purpose built fizz chiller and glass holders.  Doris is also available as a mobile Prosecco bar, 'Vinny's Bar' for weddings and events.

The Caddy, 2010 VW Caddy van, UK model, Arctic white, 1.9 TDI engine

Taking a trip where the destination is more important than the journey? A weekend kayaking around Anglesey? A holiday cycling through the Lake District? Well, we have just the vehicle for you!

New to the Chase the Sun fleet, we are very excited to offer our VW Caddy campervan for self drive hire. Fully equipped with a rock & roll bed, a kitchen pod with cooker and cooler and 12v and 240v electric hook up. The Caddy seats 4 passengers.

It is also fitted with roof bars for your boards, kayaks or boats and a bike rack too.

Elsie, 1979 Eriba Puck vintage caravan. Original interior.

Elsie really does have a story to tell... Owned and loved by a couple from Nimes, France she was towed through Europe to Greece (and back again!) by a Citroen 2CV. Elsie was looked after, enjoyed and loved even more. After much soul searching, we were lucky enough to find her and bring her to join our small fleet.

Elsie is available as a photo booth for weddings and events, just like our VW campervans. She is also available for hire should you wish to serve your afternoon tea, canapes or cocktails from her at your festival style or vintage themed wedding.

She is kitted out with delicate pastels and vintage camping accessories and is the perfect accessory.
